WHAT IS WEX?
If you’re an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student in Year 10, 11, and 12, then WEX is for you!
WEX provides hands-on experience and information about job opportunities in the Australian Government.
WEX is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) under its Children and Schooling Program.
The WEX program is delivered by the Australian Government in partnership with ETM Perspectives (ETMP).
ELIGIBILITY
- Be confident travelling to and from Sydney, NSW (Gadigal Country) without supervision.
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
- Be enrolled in Year 10, Year 11, or Year 12 in 2025.
- Be located and go to school in NSW, ACT and VIC.
- Be interested in a career in the Australian Public Service.
- Have your school’s support to attend.
- Be emotionally resilient and able to be away from home for up to five days.

✔️ Located and go to school in NSW, ACT and VIC.
✔️ Able to independently travel to Sydney, NSW (Gadigal Country) for the WEX Regional Experience.
Activities and experiences may include:
- Meeting First Nations leaders including APS employees
- Obtaining advice on career planning.
- Working alongside Indigenous mentors who will help guide your personal leadership journey.
- Meeting other Indigenous students and future leaders.
- One-on-one and small group workshops on leadership, mentoring and how to make the most of your school learning experience.
- Cultural activities.
- A Careers Expo, where students can talk to representatives from a range of government agencies.
